Admit it, we are all guilty of some bad beard practices every now and again. We might over fondle those furry face cheeks, or find ourselves tugging away (We're talking beards, keep it clean!) at any untidy stray hairs that we might find. So, today I wanted to highlight three of the most common bad practices we might have that could stop our marvelous face forests flourishing out the way they should. Let us begin...
This has to be the most common bad habits most beardsmen admit to doing, we're having a feel through our beards are discover a split end or a tiny knot hiding away amongst the face fur, then without giving it much of a thought if any at all we pull away at it, removing the troublesome hair once and for all.
But the truth is following such poor practices over time will have a huge impact on your beard, and could even lead onto further issues such as beard thinning or even worse, beard balding spots. Think about it, if you were to 'pluck' away at your beard every time you discovered something a little odd, you're soon going to fall into a bad daily routine in doing so. Given time this will taint your beards appearance and has been linked as a direct cause of bald spots forming upon many faces of bearding men. But how do I fix this? Simple really, STOP. I know that might seem a touch easier said than done, but breaking the habit as soon as possible is the only real fix here. so in the politet way possible... pack it in.
We often fall into bad habits without even realising we have done so. Overwashing our beards is one of them. We usually make either one of the following two hiccups, if not both.
Firstly, we choose the wrong product to help wash away any dirt and grime that might be hiding away beneath the beard, usually the same stuff you'd use to wash the hair on your head. In short, PLEASE STOP. You're likely to be causing you face and beard a whole host of unthought problems by choosing to use over the counter shampoos and conditioners.
Usually these products are made from harsh chemicals that are designed to lift dandruff from your scalp, never were these ever designed for the use of beards. Choosing to do so may lead to a much dryer, brittler beard, and can even have a knock on effect on the cause of beard dandruff.
Secondly, we fall into the daily routine of washing our beards each morning, when in truth, this really is not needed. If you overwash your beard you'll soon be removing the naturally formed oils produced to protect the beard hair strand rather than helping it stay clean. Over time this will give your beard an almost transparent appearance and can even slow down the growth process. When choosing what to use e strongly suggest you trust a beard wash and conditioner, much like our TBS range.
