In many career professions it is common practice that a clean shaven appearance is strictly mandatory. Well, police officials in Switzerland have taken a stance to lift such rules and regulations that are currently in place, allowing police officials to grow out a beard if they should choose to do so.
Officials from the city of Geneva, Switzerland have announced the plans to lift the regulations that currently forbid police officers from sporting any form of facial hair, whilst the ruling is still very much in place it's believed this will be lifted by the end of 2016.
The new regulation which is set to come into play over the coming months will contain separate chapters in regards to beards, sideburns and mustaches, giving the beholder much more freedom to sport what facial hair they choose. Although there will remain some regulations that must be followed which focus on a maximum length, which cannot exceed one centimeter. Their neck area must also be kept shaven with the overall appearance which must remain neat and tidy at all times.
This issue has been an ongoing process since Canton's parliament set the wheels in motion to call for the ban on facial hair to be lifted almost two years ago. In numerous professions beards are strongly forbidden, but with new regulations coming into play globally we can expect to begin seeing such rules slowly being axed from the rule books, and rightfully so. Whilst gentlemen proudly displaying beards continue to grow in popularity it only makes sense for such rules and regulations to become redundant. Such regulations do tend to differ from state to state within certain professions, but as times continue to change I fully expect a more relaxed approach to our beloved beards to continue to expand within the workplace over the coming years. After all, we should be very much entitled to grow as much or as little facial hair as we please.
